ABOUT  THE  OVCWA

The Ohio Valley Civil War Association (OVCWA) is a non-profit Civil War Living History Reenacting Group devoted to preserving history, honoring the men and women that sacrificed their lives for our nation, and educating present and future generations about those who served our country to protect the freedom upon which the United States of America was formed. We are comprised of volunteers from the region of southwestern Ohio and its surrounding states.

Founded in 1997, and with a membership of over seventy members, we are dedicated to the authentic representation of life during the era of the Civil War. The OVCWA has become one of the premier Living History groups in the country. We set up a period-style camp and perform demonstrations at events throughout the year at several venues including schools, National Military Parks and Battlefields, community events, ceremonies, parades, dedications, festivals, and other history-related activities.

We are an organization of reenacting groups that portray infantry, artillery, medical, and other military related units. We have conducted educational programs at many Civil War battlefields that include Gettysburg, Shiloh, Stones River, Chickamauga, Franklin, Mill Springs, Perryville, and Antietam.

If you are interested in learning more about the history of the Civil War, visit us at an event listed on our schedule and take advantage of the opportunity for an enriching experience that captures the significance of our nation’s deepest struggle. We look forward to seeing you at a future event!
